What Schools Can Do
Community: We often use the word, but what does it actually mean? According to
a monograph recently published by HSC, the term can refer either to a particular
neighborhood, with its families, businesses, and agencies, or to culture, that shared
sense of interaction, understanding, or being.
The publication describes the actions that schools and school communities need
to take to realize systemic change that improves the health, well-being, growth, and
development of their students, staff, and schools. The actions are divided into nine
levers of change.
