The Vanderbilt Assessment of Leadership in Education
(VAL-ED), distributed by Discovery Education,
measures principals’ effectiveness using 360º
feedback from teachers, supervisors, and the principals
themselves. Aligned to the Interstate School Leaders
Licensure Consortium, VAL-ED focuses on learning-centered leadership behaviors that influence teachers,
staff, and most importantly, student achievement. Field
tested in a nationally representative sample, VAL-ED
is a reliable and valid measure for evaluating learning-centered leadership.
